Discover The Two Best Ways To Get Rid Of Stretch Marks

If you’re unhappy with your stretch marks, you are certainly not alone. These days, many women suffer from these unsightly imperfections, which may be caused by pregnancy or weight fluctuations. Men may also find that stretch marks appear due to weight loss or gain, or due to the effects of bodybuilding.

No matter why you have stretch marks, you should know that these marks may be minimized or eliminated via the right treatments. While some trial and error may be required in order to make your skin look better, we’ve compiled a few strategies that are likely to give you the results that you want.

Home Remedies for Stretch Marks – Some men and women use natural oils that may be readily available in home kitchens, in order to smooth their skin and alleviate the unattractive appearance of stretch marks.

Some of the most widely used home remedies for stretch marks include Olive oil, Almond oil, Aloe Vera gel and Cocoa butter. Let's have a closer look at all of them.

Almond Oil

It's known to be a great moisturizer, which makes it a preferred oil for people with dry skin. It is also beneficial thanks to the vitamins(A, B1, B2 and E) and minerals it contains. A less known fact is that almond oil is capable of relieving irritations, inflammations and it helps in cell renewal, which makes it great for anti-aging uses.

Applying almond oil twice a day should have a great effect in preventing stretch marks or fading the existing ones- that is if you don't have nut allergies- then you'll be in for some fun...

Olive Oil

Thanks to the high amounts of vitamins A, D, K and E (which are vital for healthy skin and the healing of acne scars and other tissue breakdown), olive oil is effective in preventing stretch marks and fading them. One important note is that in order for the treatment with olive oil to work, you need to buy extra virgin olive oil. Otherwise, the vitamins and antioxidants might be lost during the high temperature refining process. And, of course, olive oil is also a great moisturizer. As with almond oil, you need to massage it on the stretched are two times a day.

Cocoa Butter

As with almond and olive oils, cocoa butter is very beneficial thanks to it's rich content of vitamins (E especially) and antioxidants. However, there is another benefit to it, and a very big one for that matter. Cocoa butter contains a lot of collagen. Collagen is a protein that is essential for your bones, cells, organs and skin tissue. Actually one of the reasons for stretch marks to appear is the break down of collagen beneath the top layer of skin. This makes cocoa butter a great home remedy for this popular skin problem. All you need to do is apply it two times a day and of course make sure you use natural, high quality butter!

Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe Vera is commonly used to treat skin inflammations and burns. This is due to the fact that many studies link some of the active compounds in the plant with an increase in the production of fibroblast cells. The rate of production of these cells increases with 6 to 8 times. Why is this good? These so called fibroblast cells have an active role in the creation of collagen in the skin, and we already discussed how beneficial this is. Apply it 1-2 times a day.

All of these home remedies for stretch marks are pretty good on their own, however, if used in a combination between each other and with vitamin E capsules, the results will be even better.

While these cost-effective treatments may work for some people, they do have a downside, as these types of oils are quite greasy and may stain clothes. Therefore, it’s important to let these natural oils absorb before you get dressed.

Commercial Products for Stretch Marks – Sometimes, it’s better to invest in a good, non-greasy serum, which gives superlative results, rather than dealing with the disadvantages of messy oils. I find it helpful to apply the oils after I shower while I am still wet then gently dry my skin. It absorbs better and doesn't leave you feeling oily or greasy :)

If you don't have almond oil, coconut oil will do the trick as well. It's great for cooking and other things too so it's a really handy oil to have around!
