- hot flashes
- night sweats
- pain during intercourse
- increased anxiety or irritability
- need to urinate more often
- change of moods
- depression
These symptoms might not be life treating, but they are stressful enough to make some women undergo hormonal replacement therapy with all of its nasty side effects.
Instead of HRT why don't you check what nature`s got for you?
Vitamin E
A reduction in hot flashes is experienced by women who take Vitamin E . However, a study evaluated vitamin E supplements (800 IU/day for 4 weeks) for 120 breast cancer survivors with hot flashes and found that it only marginally decreased hot flashes.
Natural progesterone cream
A study found that natural progesterone cream significantly reduced hot flashes compared to the placebo group. According to Northrup ( The Wisdom of Menopause ) 2% progesterone skin cream works in about 85% of perimenopausal women. As much as 1/4 tsp per day can ease your hot flashes. Be sure to read the labels of natural progesterone cream products with caution as there is great variability of progesterone content. Some creams contain less than 5 mg progesterone per ounce, others more than 400 mg progesterone per ounce. This can be obtained over the counter or by prescription.
Soy
We shell sue once again Christiane Northup and her book The Wisdom of Menopause, according to it a research showed that ate 60 grams of soy protein ( in the form of a powdered drink mix ) per day had a 45% reduction in hot flashes after 12 weeks. The following servings contain about 35-50 mg of soy isoflavones: 1/2 cup tofu, one cup soy milk, 1/2 cup green, 1/2 tempeh soybeans (edamame), and three handfuls of roasted soy nuts.
Herbs
There are 3 herbs know for their positive effects on the menopause. Black cohosh, Dong quai, Promensil ( an estrogen derived from red clover )
- Black cohosh is the most common herbal menopause treatment. It is recommended to be used 6 months consistently
- Dong quai cts like an estrogen and can ease menopause symptoms for some women, however it is not recommendable due to the fact it contains psoralen, a known carcinogen
- Promensil was found to significantly reduce the number and intensity of hot flashes in a study conducted in 1998-99
Menopause supplements
Supplements are a combination of the herbs I told you about, a few more, vitamins and other healthy nutrients. When used in combination these tree are the ultimate natural menopause treatment. And they also have more positive health effects like strengthening the bones and the heart and helping you have a healthy skin and hair.
Such a supplement is Menozac. Some of the benefits it provides are:
- Supports balanced mood and calmness
- Maintains healthy sleep patterns
- Supports hormonal balance
- Removes hot flashes
- and others
The reasons I recommend it out of the many menopause supplements are:
- that its been on the market for as long as 15 years and for that period I've only heard good things about it.
- Its formula is a 100% natural blend of herbs known to ease menopause symptoms
- Has a bunch of great testimonials you can see on its website
Exercising
This is a great weapon against the menopause, especially in combination with the above. You will ease your life dramatically! 40 minutes 2 times a week is enough. It will increase your bone density and overall health- physical and psychological.
Im not saying that the menopause can be a breeze, but you can always do whatever you can to make it easier on your self!
